After Aiden passed 2 years ago I had no clue what

After Aiden passed 2 years ago I had no clue what I wanted to do. I felt lost, confused, no self confidence and so much more. I had voyaged through the worst storm anyone could ever imagine and I did not recognize the person emerging. I knew I could not lay in bed all day and cry (although somedays this still happens). What was I doing with my life? What was I going to do with my future? My life was missing a huge piece that no matter how hard I looked I will always be missing. So I started to look for different pieces. I started selling makeup, I started a cake business, we grew our family 👶❤️. I needed to be at home. I needed to stay busy. I was not ready to face the world. I loved doing all these things but I was still searching… Then I decided to try going back to school in hopes to be a registered therapist someday, to help other families navigating through horrible seas as well. I applied to a couple of schools but because it had been MANY years since I had post-secondary education it was a challenge. I had to track down transcripts and needed prerequisites and so much more but I did not give up! Then one night Queens University Online popped up in my search and I applied…. I got accepted as a “Interest Student”. What did that even mean? For two semesters I needed to take one course and get above 1.6 GPA to continue to next level. Then for two semesters I needed to take 3 courses and if I could get GPA above 1.9 I would then be seamlessly moved into the Psychology Degree program with all my credits and transfer credit from the past being applied…. I woke this morning with my final marks, GPA of 3.58!!!! I am so incredibly excited, and yes still scared but most importantly proud of myself for not giving up. For setting a goal and going for it! I am also so incredibly thankful for my amazing supportive partner Jay and wonderful family, who probably think I am crazy most of the time, but gave me reassurance that I could do it! I am taking a much needed break this summer but I am so excited to be official full time @queensuniversity psychology student in the fall!!!..#dreambig #griefjourney #livebeforeyoudie #motivation inspiration

Today we went to the river and let flowers into the water to honour Aidens last day on this earth. Just like last year the rain sprinkled on us as we tossed the flowers but then cleared for us to just sit by the river and remember our beautiful son, brother, friend. I wished my grief could be washed away as easy as the current carried the flowers. Two years and I still am waiting to wake up from the dream, waiting to get to a place that is not so raw, not so in the moment. Do we ever move through grief? Can I just push through until I get to a spot on the other side. Or am I just finally learning grief is not something You ever complete, but rather endure?
